E. Pauline Monnich, age 80, passed away June 4, 2016, at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, Kansas. She was born in New Hampton, Iowa, on October 14th, 1935, the only child of E. Paul and Verna E. (Lange) Schott.

She attended St. John’s College, Winfield, Kansas, graduating in May of 1955. In August of 1955, Pauline moved to Herington to teach primary grades at Our Redeemer Lutheran School.

Pauline Schott and Werner Monnich of Herington were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lajunta, Colorado, on March 31, 1957, by the bride’s uncle, Rev. N. A. Schott. They lived near Ramona and later moved to a farm near Herington. They relocated to a home near Latimer in 1991.

Three children were born to this union; Marcia Bartlett (Clint), Wanda Platz (Donald) and Richard Monnich.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church rural Ramona for many years and was a current member of Zion Lutheran Church in Latimer.

Pauline was a homemaker and enjoyed her family immensely. She especially enjoyed her years of being a “grandma.” She said they were the most exciting and joyous years of her life.

She is lovingly survived by her husband of 59 years, Werner, her three children and their spouses, her four grandsons; Joseph Platz, Lucas Monnich, Brady Platz (Jessica), and Matthew Monnich, and her 2 great grandsons; Korbyn and Kiptyn Platz.

The family requests memorials to the St. John’s Cemetery Fund, or the Parkside Homes, or HarryHynes Hospice; and they may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home – Herington Chapel,404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.
