KIDD—In this city, Jan. 7, William T. Kidd, aged 71 years, husband of the late Ellen Kidd, father of G. A., H. T. and F. W. Kidd, Mrs. Clara De Monbrun and Mrs. Bertha La Fever, all of this city, W. J. and E. L. Kidd of Garibaldi, Or. The remains are at the parlors of Chambers Co., Inc., 248-250 Killingsworth ave. Funeral notice later.

William Thomas Kidd was born in Franktown, Ontario, Canada, May 25, 1853, the son of Thomas and Clara (Keays) Kidd.

He attended the common schools and assisted in the work in the fields and care of the stock on his father's farm. Later he worked at logging camps in Canada. In 1879 he immigrated to the United States and settled in Cass County, North Dakota Territory.

In 1879 William married Ellen Madigan. He filed for a homestead at Springer Township, along the Sheyenne River in Ransom County, North Dakota. For the next twenty-two years they raised wheat and oats. In 1901 William and Ellen sold all their holdings and removed their entire family to Whiteson, Oregon.

For twenty-five years William devoted his energies to the cultivation of a fine ranch of seventy-five acres, situated seven miles southwest of McMinnville, raising wheat, oats, fruit, and vegetables.

He was of the Christian Science faith. William belonged to I.O.O.F. and the Brotherhood of American Yeoman. He served as a road supervisor for two terms, and as a member of the school board.

William died on January 7, 1925 in Portland and interred on January 10, 1925 at Rose City Cemetery.
