Eldest of six children born to Lithuanian immigrants Frank & Alena (Švarcunis) Lanis. Homemaker. Longtime resident of the Windgap neighborhood, Pittsburgh, PA. Former Miss Pittsburgh. Avid golfer at Chartiers Country Club. Eighth-grade education. Spoke only Lithuanian & German upon entering first grade because English wasn't spoken at home. Attended Saint Vincent de Paul School in Pittsburgh's Esplen neighborhood, marrying in the parish church, St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church—a Lithuanian parish—in 1935 to John Steven Stracka. One son/five grandsons. Widowed in 1942. Remarried in 1947 to Italian immigrant James Mancini, her husband of 30 years & founder of Pittsburgh's MANCINI'S BAKERY. Well-traveled, her favorite city Vienna, Austria. Nursing home resident her last seven years, dying of pneumonia & dementia at age 77.
