Alfred H. Casson was a Union Soldier, serving in the 7th Regiment, Company B, Wis. Infantry stationed in Camp Randall during the Civil War.

"A Death in Camp - A soldier named Alfred H. Casson, of Fall River, belonging to the Columbia Co. Cadets, died at Camp Randall yesterday, after a brief illness, of typhoid fever. He resides in Milton, Rock county. His mother, having a presentiment that her son was sick, arrived at Camp on Friday, and was present relieving with her tender care the last hours of her patriotic son. He was only 19 years of age. - This is the first death that has taken place in the camp, and casts a deep gloom over the soldiers now there. The funeral of young Casson took place at the camp this afternoon at 4 o'clock, attended with military honors. - Madison Journal"
