Barbara Cyr Lodge's obit:
Barbara Cyr
March 28, 1927 - July 10, 2010
July 10, 2010, Mrs. Lodge (Barbara E. Cyr) went on her greatest adventure.
Jesus came and picked her up and took her home.
He decided that her glowing smile, gentle eyes and kind heart were needed.
Barbara Ellen Cyr was born in Sunnyside, WA, on March 28, 1927, to
Frank and Lena Mae (Wilson) Mowen.
She spent her childhood years in the Sunnyside area before coming to
Yakima to attend and graduate from Saint Joseph Academy.
After graduation she and her best girlfriend, Honey, experienced many
adventures. In 1946, she met and fell in love with Richard P. Cyr and they
married on October 1947.
Barbara was a stay-at-home mom, caring for her children, Cheryl, Richard,
Michael and Michele.
During the summers, Barbara (Mrs. Lodge) took her children (the
Lodgettes) on many adventures to Mount Adams, Mount Rainier and Mount
Saint Helens.
Barbara wrote a small book about the Lodges and their adventures.
Dick and Barbara had a love for jumping in the car and going for long rides.
No destination in mind, wherever the road took them. Dick often had a
fishing pole in the car and Barbara a book.
In 1970, Barbara made a decision to go to college to become a teacher.
She packed apples during the summers to help pay for her education. She
was focused on her dream and on July 3, 1975, she accepted employment
with the East Valley School District.
Mrs. Cyr, as she was known, taught First Grade at Terrace Heights
Elementary, touching many lives until she retired in June of 1993.
During her tenure at Terrace Heights Elementary, Barbara helped
implement personal computers into the classroom.
Making many trips to different districts for training, and bringing back her
knowledge to train and assist the staff and students.
She had a love of computers and a thrill for continuous knowledge.
