Mr. Finrow was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Seattle and of the University of Washington where he earned a degree in civil enginering. He joined the U.S. Navy where he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was in charge of building the U.S.S. Arizona memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He retired after 30 years service.

He married Mary Virginia Ford in Seattle on December 23, 1944. They were the parents of five sons, Larry, Tom, Fred, Mark and Jeff. After Virginia died in 1997, he married Rosemay Olsen.
