Carbon Monoxide Kills 4
As Van Idles In Garage

GREELEY, COLO. — Four family members died and two were critically injured by carbon monoxide gas coming from a van idling in a garage. Investigators were trying to determine why the van was running and whether the deaths were accidental, authorities said Thursday. They were alerted Wednesday night when the grandmother's medical-alert device sounded. The grandmother, Jesusita Ferguson, died along with her son, Ed Ferguson, 29; his wife, Erlinda, 29; and their son Nathan, 8. The grandmother's age was unknown. Two other sons, 12-year-old Eddie Jr. and 11-year-old [name omitted], were in critical condition at Presbyterian-St. Luke Hospital in Denver. Neighbors said Ferguson worked at a meat packing plant in Greeley, a city of 60,000 about 50 miles northeast of Denver.--Orlando Sentinel, March 12, 1993
