Georgia married Thomas 'Roy' Akard on Aug 4, 1917 in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana. (Her husband was the half brother of her sister Leo's husband, John 'Jack' Akard.)

Georgia's daughter was born in May of 1918. Jane was different from the beginning - slow.

Roy and Georgia had a tailor shop at 1012 E Washington in the front and lived in the back. During prohibition (1930's) they sold liquor (bathtub gin) from the back of the store.

They did quite well. Jane stayed with her Aunt Maggie on the weekends at one time and her parents picked her up in a rented limousine.

In May of 1934 her husband, Roy, died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.

After Roy's death Georgia ran a tavern for a while on College Avenue.

Jane was put in an institution (Catholic: The Little Sisters of the Good Shepherd; Sep 8, 1937-March 17, 1939) and then she was transferred to the Ft Wayne State School (retarded).

About 1942 Georgia moved in with her sister, Bert, who had lost her husband in December of 1940.

About 1951 Jane was permenently taken from the Ft Wayne school and brought to live with Georgia and Bert. Jane had been sick and wanted to leave.

About 1952 a boarder came to live with them. In January of 1956 Bert died and the house became Georgia's. The boarder, Fred McCormick, died in February of 1961.

In October of 1963 Jane unexpectedly married. Sometime after that Georgia was in the hospital and Jane and her husband sold nearly everything in the house. Still Georgia would not press charges so that Jane could be committed for her own (Jane's) protection. Jane later divorced.

In the early 1970's Georgia sold the house and she and her daughter, Jane, moved to an apartment - about the 1200 block of E Washington.

Georgia became ill and went to the hospital. Upon being dismissed she entered a nursing home on E 86th St. She died about two weeks later.

She died at age 83 years 8 months 20 days.
