Clifford Stanley Foster died at University Hospital on January 14, 2016.

He was born on June 5, 1922 and was the son of Walter H. and Mildred Foster of Luton, Bedfordshire, England. Mr. Foster served in the Royal Air Force for six years during World War II. He immigrated to the United States via Bermuda in 1952.

Mr. and Mrs. Foster made their home at Springdale Hall in Camden, South Carolina and Blowing Rock, North Carolina before moving to Brandon Wilde in Evans, Georgia in 2000. Mr. Foster was an accomplished woodworker and devoted much of his retirement time to the wood shop at Brandon Wilde.

Mr. Foster is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Axford Foster; a brother, Robert W. Foster and wife Dorothy E. Foster of Great Bookham, Surrey; a nephew, John A. W. Foster and wife Jane of Woking, Surrey; a niece, Hilary Foster Tattershall and husband, Philip of Cockermouth, Cumbria and three grand nephews.

Graveside services for Mr. Clifford Stanley Foster will be conducted Sunday afternoon, June 5, 2016, at 3:00 o'clock, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.
