HurricanE ?Ronella Olsen Taylor Cannon, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in
Hurricane on Saturday, April 22, 2006. Ronella was born March 5, 1916, in Provo, Utah to Parley Andrew and Eliza Beal Olsen, one of 11 children, six boys and five girls. All preceded her in death.
She married Leo Von Taylor October 30, 1936, in Provo, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 11, 1942. They had seven children, four girls and three boys. Von passed away on December 19, 1981, after 45 years of marriage.
She married Bernard (Barney) Cannon on September 14, 1985 and lived in St. George until his passing on January 8, 1996. Since then, Ronella has lived in Hurricane.
She worked for Sears in Reno and Las Vegas, and at the Kolob Credit Union in Henderson, NV. She also worked at her son's dental office in Henderson, NV.
Ronella has always been active in the LDS Church. She was Relief Society President, as well as many other assignments.
She was an accomplished pianist and served extensively as a Ward and Stake organist. She enjoyed playing piano since her youth. She always took great pride and interest in her family.
Ronella is survived by her seven children: Shirleen (Kelly) Spendlove of Las Vegas, NV., Marilyn (Antone) Bringhurst of Hurricane, UT, Beverly (Mike) Naegle of Hurricane, UT, Robert (Penny) Taylor of Parawon, UT, Suzanne (Karl- deceased) Leavitt of Hurricane, UT, Ron (Lark) Taylor of Santa Clara, UT, and Brent (Kristine) Taylor of Logandale, NV. She has 47 grandchildren, 130 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
She has six step children: Emma Gaye (Claire) Worthen, Shirley (Jaren) Swenson, Hattie (Gary) Price, Barney (Betty) Cannon, Dorothy (Denny) Frook, and Jim (Lydia- deceased) Cannon; 22 Step-grandchildren, 41 stepgreat grandchildren, and nine step- great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 28, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hurricane LDS 8th Ward Chapel, 155 W. 1050 N., Hurricane, UT. A visitation will be held Thursday, from 6-8 p.m., and Friday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., both at the chapel. Interment will be in the Veyo City Cemetery, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-4221. Condolences may be sent to the family through Metcalf's website at www.metcalfmortuary.com.
