My husband, William, was born at Scotia, California on 18 October 1945 and passed away (at home while under Hospice Care) on 28 May, 2016 (in Tacoma, Washington).

Bill, as he was known to family & friends, was the son of Mearl Fred Snell Sr and Cathryn Ann Rowe. Bill's only sibling is his brother, Mearl Fred Snell Jr.

He was named William after his father's father, William Ellsworth Snell (1883-1957) Find A Grave #71573461 and his middle name, Albert, came from his mother's father, Albert Henry Rowe (1858-1941) Find A Grave #106748157.

Bill lived in Scotia, CA only a short time before moving "a bit north" to Eureka, CA, where he was raised. He attended a couple local grade schools and graduated from Eureka Senior High School with the Class of 1963.

Bill and I met at Eureka Senior High in 1962. I was in my junior year and he was a senior.

After graduating, Bill headed south to Los Angeles to attend LA Trade & Tech where he majored in "sign writing", a profession he had actually already spent several years working along side his father.

We were married in Eureka on 21 August 1964 at St Bernard's Catholic Church. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise to Alaska in 2014. We both enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises. We often traveled to Hawaii, visiting all the islands. Our trip to China was one of the highlights of our many wonderful adventures. We continued to visit many parts of the US, Canada, Mexico and the world before Bill become too ill to travel.

Our family: Our son Scott and our daughter Misty. Scott is married to Dani and they have their son, Donovan and Dani's son, Damian, completes their family. Misty is married to Tony and they have their son, Arthur.

Bill "fell into wood carving" when we lived for a number of years in Portland, Oregon. He carved all sorts of carousel animals and loved carving. He also worked in various other "wood activities" and was a wood shop assistant at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka for several years.

Antiques were also another love. He restored many lovely pieces of antique furniture and we also had a chair caning business for many years.

Several health issues came on far too early and we moved to Washington in 2014 to live near Scott and his family. Misty lives in Oregon with her family.

Bill wanted no funeral/service. I still have his ashes. Mine will join his when that time comes . . . and will be spread in Puget Sound.

If you read this memorial and knew him well, I'm sure you will remember that he was a good & kind person.
