Jo Ann Bonds Perry departed her life on Friday, May 27, 2016 peacefully at her home.
She was born in Chattanooga, TN on October 1, 1936 to the late James and Carrie Bonds.
She graduated from Howard High School in Chattanooga and had a lasting relationship with a group of her lifelong friends; affectionately called “Friends Forever”.
Jo Ann was married to the late Dea. Roscoe Perry. This union produced a blended family with five children. Her family relocated to Savannah, Georgia in October, 1966. She and her family joined the fellowship of the Historic First African Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess.
She cared for her husband for many years prior to his passing in 2004. She showed much love and support to her family. She extended her support to many people in her community by helping raise and nurture children at her home.
She was preceded in death by four siblings; Bettye Swafford, Melvin Bonds, Brenda Cathey and Alvin Bonds all of Chattanoga, TN.
Fond memories will be cherished by her children: Deborah Pollard (Covington, GA); Anthony (Adelle) Pollard (Marietta, GA), Rev. Roscoe (Ann) Perry (Grovetown, GA), Gerald Perry
(Sumter, SC), step daughter, Minister Deloris Ray Hall(Charleston, SC); eight grandchildren: Brandon Bright, Clayton NeSmith, Andrea Pollard, Michael Hall, Christina Perry, Aja Pollard, Gerard Perry and Joshua Middlebrooks; two great grandchildren: Alanis Bright and Channing NeSmith. One sister, James Etta (Alfonso) Overton (Chattanooga, TN). Others that will miss her presence include a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
