Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fairfax by the Rev. Dustin Vu. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. A scripture service and rosary will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids where friends may visit with the family until 7 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family on Saturday after 10 a.m. at the church in Fairfax.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Wilkins of Rochester, MN and Cindy (Pat) McElliott of Cedar Rapids; and grandchildren Sara Wilkins, Pat (Courtney) Wilkins of Minnesota, and Laura (Fagner) Wilkins-Henrique of Texas.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents, husband Cleo (1991), son-in-law Gil Wilkins, brother and sister-in-law Leonard “Sandy” (Alice) Yanecek, Sr. and sister and brother-in-law Pearl (Marvin) Nelson and infant sister, Caroline.
Emily was born October 14, 1919 in Fairfax, the youngest daughter of Jim and Annie Earsa Yanecek. Her father was an immigrant from Czechoslovakia at the age of 3.
She married Cleo Larkin on February 1, 1938 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fairfax.
In addition to being an avid card player, Emily enjoyed polka dancing, going for rides, cooking, baking kolaches and cookies. She loved to laugh, had a wonderful smile, and a kind word to say about everyone. She was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s church in Fairfax, the Altar and Rosary Society, WFLA Lodge 400 in Swisher, Fairfax Senior Citizens, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, CSA Lodge 137, and the Ladies Friendship Club. Emily was proud of her Czech heritage.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed for Masses or those wishing to make contributions are asked to consider Catholic Charities, Camp Courageous, or the Czech-Slovak museum.
