Linton "Bud" Floyd Willis Jr. was born on June 17, 1926 in Miami, Dade County, Florida. He was the son of Linton Floyd Willis Sr. (b. June 1, 1896, Ellzy Community, Tattnall County. Georgia, d. May 16, 1954, Miami, Dade County, Florida) and Katie Ella Cahoon Willis (b. September 4, 1897, Miami, Dade County, Florida, d. July 15, 1951, Miami, Dade County, Florida). To Bud were born two daughters. Bud served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Miami while working and taking care of his family. In 1963, he accepted a position with the government in Aberdeen, Maryland and moved his family there, then Baltimore and finally settling down in Joppatowne, Harford County, Maryland. He retired from government service as an operations research analyst after 28 years of service. In his spare time, Bud enjoyed writing poetry having several of his poems published. In addition, he loved reading science fiction novels and spending time with his friends and family. Linton "Bud" Floyd Willis Jr. died on July 13, 1989 after a long battle with kidney disease. He is buried at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium, Baltimore County, Maryland. At the time of his death, he was survived by his, two daughters, one grandchild, two son-in-laws, a sister and brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
