Charles J. Doyle, 87, Shullsburg, died Sept. 2, 2006 at Lafayette Manor, Darlington.

He was born March 12, 1919, the son of Joseph and Johanna (Morrissey) Doyle. Charles graduated from Shullsburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He was united in marriage to Maysie L. Bonney on Dec. 8, 1945 in Los Angeles, Calif. He lived most of his life in Shullsburg. He co-owned and operated Doyle's IGA in Shullsburg with his father. He was also the owner of Sunoco Gas Station in Shullsburg for 20 years, retiring in 1981.

Charles was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Shullsburg; a past member of the Knights of Columbus and Shullsburg Lions Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (friend Casey Binicewicz) Loeffelholz, Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren: Todd (friend Gina Corsalini) Loeffelholz, Rockford, Ill.; Christine (Chad) Helmer, Janesville; Tonya (Robert) Schuld, Rockford, Ill.; Angela and Matthew Bonney, both from the state of Washington; Benjamin (Erika) Bonney, Edgerton; Phillip Bonney, Madison; three great-grandchildren: Kayla and Kasidie Pallansch, Janesville; and Colton Schuld, Rockford, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maysie, on June 11, 1992; a son, Patrick Bonney, on Jan. 2, 1997; a brother, Eugene Doyle; a son-in-law, Joseph R. Loeffelholz, on Sept. 22, 1996.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 6, 2006 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Shullsburg. The Rev. James R. Lins officiated. Burial was in St. Matthew Cemetery, Shullsburg. Military graveside rites were accorded by McCann-Richards American Legion Post #105 Shullsburg and Shullsburg VFW Post #10533. The O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home, Shullsburg, served the family.
