FORT ATKINSON - Funeral services from John R. Fortney, 85, of 1120 Elsie St., will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Dunlop Memorial HOme with the Rev. Wesley E. Shold Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Fort Atkinson.
Friends and relatives may call to pay their respects at the memorial home Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Fortney was born Dec. 25, 1905 in Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Algiers. Following the death of his mother, he was raised by Mr. and Mrs. John Fortney.. He married the former Gertrude Dallman of Fort Atkinson Jan. 15, 1934 in Belvidere, Ill. He was a salvage dealer for 25 years and later employed by Lorman Iron and Metal of Fort Atkinson. Fortney was a member of New Testament Church of Fort Atkinson.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Olin (Nancy) Bienfang of Fort Atkinson; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Edward of San Diego, Calif.; and a sister, Sister Louisa of LaCrosse.
He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond, a daughter, Donna Mae Allbaugh; a great-grandson; a brother and a sister.
