Henry C. Hughes Dies
Retired Pioneer Merchant Passes Away After Long Illness. Funeral Today.
Henry C. Hughes, 117 East Vermijo street, a retired merchant, and for the last 25 years a resident of Colorado Springs, died yesterday at noon in St. Francis hospital after a lingering illness, at the age of 68 years. Mr. Hughes was born in Zanesville, O., and lived in that state until coming to this city in 1884, after which time he was active in business until his retirement several years ago. He is survived by a wife, Mrs. Jennie Hughes; a son, Harry C. Hughes, proprietor of the "13" cigar store on North Tejon street, and one daughter, Mrs. W.E. Johnson. The funeral which will be private, will be held from the Carrington undertaking rooms at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
