Miriam K. Ward, age 62, of San Antonio, TX, peacefully passed away on June 1st after a 16 month battle with cancer. Our loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, cousin, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and friend to many, finally surrendered.

Miriam was born March 24, 1954 in Norfolk, VA, to Suzanne and Leonard Kuhl. She graduated from Skidmore College in New York and started a career as a retail consultant in New York City. It was through this career that she met her future husband, Bradley Ward. In 1983, she left New York and became a "Transplanted Texan," where she lived for the last 33 years of her life.

In 1984, Miriam and Brad married in San Antonio and in 1989 they gave birth to their only child, Miranda Suzanne Ward. Miriam spent the next 27 years nurturing and enjoying her family, sharing time with her many friends, and adopting two cats, Elmo and Smokey, who lived 15 and 20 years respectively.

Miriam was preceded in death by her mother, Suzanne Kuhl. Miriam is survived by her husband, Bradley, daughter, Miranda and her husband Austin James, sister, Leslie Kuhl, and father, Leonard Kuhl from Portland, OR, cousin Michelle Dexter from Stony Brook, NY, mother-in-law, Bettie Ward, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marsha and Kent Ward, niece, Molly Jobe (Casey) and nephew, Kevin Ward (Laura), all of Edmond, OK.

The family will have a private memorial at Miriam's favorite places on the Big island of Hawaii, where her ashes will rest with her mother's.
In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make memorial contributions to The San Antonio Humane Society, The Animal Defense League of Texas, or to the charity of your choice.
