He was born Oct. 11, 1932 in Smackover, to Griffin Lavelle and Opal Whitfield Tinsley. He was a member of New Beginnings Church of God, a mason, and a master electrician. Gary was a member of Union IBEW Local 436 of El Dorado, and sat on the E-board committee as well as an instructor at apprenticeship schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wallace E. Tinsley; and one sister, Minnie Louise Gunther.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one son, Gary A. (Kristen) Tinsley of Fayetteville; three daughters, Margaret (Jerry) Parker of Smackover, Sharon (John) Pinson of El Dorado, and Ramona (Randy) Roberson of Smackover; one brother, James Lavelle Tinsley of Smackover; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Carol Selby of Pottsville.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Shinn Chapel, with burial in Rest Haven Memorial Park, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time at the chapel on Friday.
