James Moreland Sr was born September 18, 1925 in Cross Plains, Georgia to Newt and Lottie Belle (Calhoun) Moreland and raised by his stepmother, Bertha Moreland, after the loss of his mom at an early age. He departed this life May 26, 2016 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 90.

James was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church and a driver with the bus ministry for many years. He was a valued employee and retiree of Alloy/Jorgensen Steel.

🇺🇸 A veteran of the U. S. Army, proudly serving his country in WWII.

Preceded in death by his six brothers, two sisters and daughter, Barbara Watson.

He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Ruth Moreland, sons, James Jr. (Ella) Moreland, Terryl (Jean) Moreland, daughters, Gail (Charles) Smith, Crystal (Bobby) Smith; sisters, Mildred Hammett, Miriam Barringer; brothers-in-law, Ruben (Minnie) Dunson, Samuel L. (Herlina) Dunson; grandchildren, Kena Moreland-Stokes (Chris), Kristin Moreland, Todd (Roxie) Smith, Travis (Lorren) Smith, Allen and Tomika Watson, Zavier Moreland, Justin (Amber) Taylor, Waverly and Robert Moreland, Dana and Mallory Smith, Carl M. Henderson II, 19 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and caring neighbors.
