MARION - Mr. Billy Joe Grant, 83, husband of Jean Jenerette Grant, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Carolinas Hospital System of Florence after an extended illness.

Mr. Grant was born March 24, 1933 in Marion County, a son of the late Joe Grant and the late Dora Smith Duncan. Mr. Grant was a retired instructional teacher, who taught auto body repair at the Marion County Technical Education Center. Mr. Grant was a US Marine Corps. veteran. Mr. Grant was also a member of Mullins First Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Grant in addition to his wife of the home are three sons, Metz (Susan) Grant of Fork, Fritz (Sherry) Grant of Marion and Rex (Lisa) Grant of Florence; a brother, Smitty Grant of Mullins; a sister, Virginia Lane of Mullins; and 7 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2 in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Chadwick Ivester officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
