Memorial for Roosevelt Gray, 77, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, in the Howard-Harris Funeral Services Chapel, 1005 SW C.

Mr. Gray died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016.

Burial with military honors will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

He was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Preston to Eddie and Stella Gray. As a young boy, he moved to California, where he graduated from David Starr High School. After high school, he entered the Army, serving in Vietnam. His military awards include: Expert, M-16 Rifle Good Conduct Medal (03rd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/1, Service Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, Expert M14 Rifle and 2 Overseas Service bars and Bietnam Campaign Medal. In 1982, he honorably discharged from the Army as a sergeant E-5.

Mr. Gray served as a school crossing guard with Lawton Public Schools and was a lifetime member of American Legion and the Handy-Man Club.

Roosevelt was a wonderful man to know. He enjoyed reading, traveling and watching Syfy.

Cherishing his memories are his wife, Janet Ford Gray, of the home; four sons: Bryon Javell Gray, Dedrick Gray and Ericka; Perry Gray and Byron Gray, all of California; a brother, Cleance Neal and Lillian, California; a sister, Lydia Coleman, California; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepsons: RayVaughn, Raymond and Domenick Woods, all of Lawton; 14 step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends.
