Anna Eileen Tate Lyons, 85, of Longview, Texas, formerly of Hancock County, Illinois, died at 9:33 p.m. Sunday (May 29, 2016) in her home.
Born January 4, 1931 in Hancock County, Illinois, Anna was the daughter of Raymond R. and Helen I. Stacker Hawkins. She married Garnett Tate on September 23, 1950 in Denver, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1987. She married Clifford Lyons on June 6, 1992, in Richardson, TX. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2007.
Anna was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. She enjoyed her church friends and family, knitting and crocheting, baking pies, and loving on her grandsons and great-grandchildren.
Anna devoted her life to her raising and caring for her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy McCormick (Jeff) of Longview, TX; three grandchildren, James McCormick (Dawn) of Longview, TX; John McCormick of Abilene, TX; and Joseph McCormick (Rachael) of Abilene, TX; three great grandchildren, two step daughters, Lynda Miceli and Nancy Guenther; and two step sons, Jeffrey Lyons and Daniel Lyons.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Garnett Tate and Clifford Lyons.
Graveside services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta, Illinois by Pastor Jeff McCormick.
There is no visitation but friends are invited to attend the graveside service. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
