Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with burial to follow in Lafayette Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Brosh Chapel.
Dean was born June 22, 1945 in Iowa City, the son of Joseph and Virginia (Smith) Pennington. He attended Anamosa Public Schools.
Dean was united in marriage to Candy S. Bailey on July 3, 1986 in Davenport.
He was the owner/operator of Pennington Trucking for over 50 years.
Dean enjoyed gambling, fishing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Dean is survived by his wife Candy; three children Robert (Lori) Bailey of Vinton, Tammy (Bill) Adcock of Watkins and Kermit (Jessica) Delay of Vinton; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings Joe (Sandra) Pennington of Tipton, Karen (Ron) Jepson of Lake Wales, Florida, Randy Pennington of Mediapolis and Denise (Lawrence) Sorensen of Toddville; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Diana Baugh.
