George Ray Yates, 78, passed away at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. He was born in Johnson County, GA. He was a son of Joseph Wilson and Polly Tucker Yates. He worked for Cannon Mills in the dye department for over 20 years, Lowes for 12 years and then over 10 years for Kwik Way Catering. He loves his grandchildren and never missed a chance to watch his granddaughter play soccer. He attended Kannapolis City Schools and loved to watch all sports - especially the Wonders football games. He loved to go to the beach with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife of 50 years, whom he married on December 16, 1956, Virginia Frances Bennett Yates, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He leaves behind by 1 daughter, 1 son, 1 granddaughter, 1 grandson and many special nieces and nephews.
