LEONARD A. BODWIN

Leonard A. Bodwin, age 86, a resident of the Laurel Grove Assisted Living
Facility, in Manitowoc, formerly of 323 Rockway, Mishicot, entered into eternal
rest on Monday, April 4, 2005 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2005 at
Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. John Neuser officiating,
with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Leonard was born July 14, 1918,
in Edgar, Wis., to the late Arthur and Mary Grimm Bodwin, and has been a lifelong
Lakeshore area resident. He was a 1936 graduate of the Washington High School in
Two Rivers. Leonard married the former Bernice Brouchoud on Sept. 26, 1942, in
Alma, Wis., and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2003. He retired from the
Mirro Aluminum Company after 23 years of service as a supervisor and foreman.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, and served as a past
church council member, and was an usher for many years. He was also a member of
the Knights of Columbus, Mishicot-Tisch Mills Council 4807. Leonard was active
in his community and served on the Mishicot Village Board for 24 years, was an
honorary member of the Mishicot Volunteer Fire Department, and a past volunteer
for the Meals-on-Wheels program. He served as past commander of the VFW Kempen-
Staudinger-Terens Post #7753, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars and during World War II served in the Third Armored Cavalry in Germany.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Marylee and Randy Zigmund of
North Carolina; Margaret and Jerry Powers of Lomira; two sons and daughters-in-
law: Gene and Denise Bodwin of Cedarburg; John and Jill Bodwin of Two Rivers; six
grandchildren: Carolyn, Nicholas (Ginny), Nathan, Brooke, Abby and Sadie: and one
great-granddaughter: Ella. He is further survived by his twin sister and brother-
in-law: Leona and Earl Bruemmer of Kewaunee; one brother and sister-in-law: Ralph
and Frances Bodwin of Two Rivers; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lloyd
and Joan Brouchoud of Mishicot; sister-in-law: Marge Bodwin of Brillion; Carol
and Bernard Cisler of Two Rivers; Jim Kocian of Two Rivers; and many nieces and
nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Bernice, he was also preceded
in death by two brothers: Everett and Donald Bodwin; and a sister-in-law: Florence
Bodwin; and by two sisters and a brother-in-law: Grace Bodwin and Eleanor and
Stanley Kopetsky.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Lambert-Eckert
Funeral Home, 344 S. State St. in Mishicot. There will be a 7 p.m. parish wake
service Thursday evening at the funeral home. Visitation will continue after 10
a.m. on Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church until the time of service at 11 a.m.,
followed by military rites accorded by the VFW Kempen-Staudinger-Terens Post
#7753. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
