Frank J. Hinkel was the son of John Andrew Hinkel born 1860 Johnstown, PA, and Sophia Margaret Wetzstein born 1866 Germany. He is buried with his parents, and sister Lena Hinkel. He and his sister share one side of the stone, and his parents are listed on the other side of the same stone.

He was gassed in World War I, came back to the U.S. and later died from the effects of it.
