Kenneth H. "Kenny" Stauffer, 77, of Macungie, died May 1, 2009 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit after a lengthy and brave fight against cancer. He was the widower of the late Mary Jane (Wessner) Stauffer and the late Catherine (Doughtery) Stauffer. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Eisenhard) Stauffer.
He was a 1949 graduate of Emmaus High School. He worked for Mack Trucks for 33 years retiring in 1987. He was a union official for many years including chief steward in Plant 3 Maintenance Department for 20 years. He honorably served his country in the Army stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Emmaus VFW Post 7088, Wescosville Fire Company, and the Mercantile Club of Emmaus. He coached the Emmaus Lion's Club little league team for more than 25 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus. He was an avid sports fan of the Phillies, Eagles, and Penn State. Kenny was a great friend to many and got his will to fight his cancer from his friends, family, and most of all his 3 great grandsons. He will be sadly missed by anyone who knew or met this generous, special man, friend, father, and pop.
Survivors: Daughter, Donna A. wife of Daniel Kollar of Allentown; Stepson, Thomas E. Mutchler and wife Marguerite of Allentown; Stepdaughter, Cynthia wife of Lyle Litzenberger of Kutztown; Brothers, Stanley Stauffer and wife Jean of Macungie and Clayton Stauffer of Macungie; Sister, Arlene Elsenbaumer of Allentown; Grandchildren, Jason and wife Shannon Hoffman, Michael and wife Megan Hoffman, and Kristina Kollar; Great Grandsons, Zachary, Landon, Luke, and Parker, and Great Granddaughter to be Molly. He was predeceased by brothers, Elmer, Oscar, and Paul and sisters, Edna, Mae, and Annie.
Services: Funeral Services Wednesday May 6, 2009 at 10:30 AM in St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut Street, Emmaus. Viewing Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., 250 Main St., Emmaus and 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church. Interment with military honors will follow in Northwood Cemetery.
