He was born October 1, 1946, in Jefferson City, and was the son of Paul Morton and Alberta Woods Morton.
Russ was a graduate of Crocker High School.
Following graduation, he proudly served his country with courage in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
During his life, Russ worked for Simpson Tobacco as a route driver, was a pipefitter for the Reform Nuclear Power Plant, and was a successful sales representative for McKay Motors and more recently for Estes Oldsmobile, Toyota, Cadillac, which is now Riley Auto Group.
Throughout his life, Russ was known for his sense of humor and many friends. He never met a stranger and leaves behind many who loved him including his family.
He was an avid golfer and always enjoyed a card game with his friends. He was a lover of all animals and provided the best of care.
Russ is known for his endless generosity and always shared whatever he had.
He is survived by two sons, Gary Morton and Phillip Morton, of St. Louis.
Russ had two brothers, Paul William Morton , who preceded him in death and Steven Morton, Hartsburg, Missouri, who is married to Pamela Leyhe.
He has four grandchildren and nieces and nephews who always enjoyed his attention and constant jokes.
Family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel.
Interment will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Mo.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Patricks Center in St. Louis for Project Hero or the Salvation Army of Jefferson City.
