He was a retired strip miner. 

He enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, and spending time with his grandkids, family, and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Janie) Coleman Foster; his father, Robert (Bob) Foster; his mother, Nina Foster; and sister, JoAnn Foster.

Survivors include granddaughter Misty Stewart and Husband Michael Stewart; sons, Rick Foster and Gail Johnson, Roger (Pete) Foster, Jr., and Mark Foster; sister Joyce Foster; grandkids, Rikki Lynn Haynes and Husband, Chris Haynes, Jamie Foster, Jana Foster, Jessica Davis and Husband, Bryant Davis, and Troy Foster. Great grandkids, Braxton Foster, Mariah Maxwell, Brandson Suttle, Ayden Cook, Bryson Manley, Braylon Pauley, Knoxlee Stover, and Dakota Foster.

Visitation will be on Monday May 30, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with funeral service at 5:00 PM. Following the service Roger will be cremated. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
