Rev. Otto J. Bernhardt, 90, of Eldorado, Kansas, died Wednesday, February 25, 1987. He was born December 14, 1896 at Mishicot, Wisconsin, son of the late Otto and Mary Scharff Bernhardt. After graduation from Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1927 he served a number of E.U.B. pastorats in Wisconsin as well Florida, Texas and Kansas, where he retired in 1974.
He was married to Esther Passow in Alma, Wisconsin on June 26, 1934. She preceded him in death on August 24, 1968. He then married Thekla Kuglin in Holton, Kansas on March 1, 1974. She survives him along with his children, Paul from McMinnville, Tennessee, Ruth Wood of Portales, New Mexico and David of Salt Lake City, Utah. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Fred, Emil, Oscar, William, Rev. Hugo and Herbert.
Funeral services were conducted in Eldorado, Kansas on March 1, 1987. A service will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manitowoc, Wisconsin at 11 am March 4, 1987. Rev. Glen Siferd will officiate with interment to follow at the Mishicot Public Cemetery.
