In the 1902 city directory of Galesburg, ILL, Mabel is found working at Wright’s Laundry and residing at #422 E. Berrien Street. Coincidentally, her mother, “Mrs. Lizzie Hoyt, (wid. B.F.)” was also working at Wright’s Laundry and resided at the same address. And, Mabel’s sister, Mrs. Ethel Wait, [sic] a housekeeper, was also living at the same address.
Sometime in 1906, Mabel married William K. Lang according to William’s death record. It is believed that Mabel and William are found in the 1910 St. Louis, MO. Census as lodgers of Martha A. Miller at 2831 Locust Street. The record is sketchy, while William K. Lang information is correct his wife is listed as “Blanche”, age 28, married for 8 years and born in Ohio. But, William’s occupation is listed as a “salesman, coffee,” which later matches other records.
In 1918, William Kirker Lang, age 35 registered for the WWI Draft on September 5 in the City of St. Louis. He was born May 5, 1882, resided at 914-916 N. Broadway, St. Louis, MO. Lang who resides at 164 South West Street, Galesburg, ILL, the same address of Mabel’s mother, Lizzie Hoyt, as found in the 1920 census.
