James D. Edgar departed this life on May 26, 2016. He was born October 5, 1923 in Grantham, OK, to Willie Alton and Ruth Venus (Nichols) Edgar. He was employed by SW Bell and AT&T for 36 years and 9 months. James started out as a ground man in 1946 at $25 per week and retired in 1982 as a manager in business-installation and repair. He was known for saying that "the harder you work, the luckier you get". He lived up to that and was the definition of a self-made man. He served in WWII and Korea and Master Sergeant Edgar won the Bronze Star for heroic action near SUI-RI Korea in 1951. James married Charlotte Love Odoms in May of 1950 and they were soulmates for exactly 60 years. When he retired, James traded his suit and tie for jeans and an old straw hat. He had an amazing garden at Lake Eufaula where he could literally grow anything. He enjoyed staying at the lake at least 6 months out of the year and loved every minute of it. James has 2 daughters: Jamie Edgar Little of Yukon, OK and Donna Edgar Rochester of Tucson, AZ. He is blessed with 3 grandsons: Jason Little, Matt Little and Christopher Rochester; 3 granddaughters: Lisa, Susan and Teri and his great-granddaughter Jacy Love Little, who he thought "Hung the Moon". We will all miss you terribly Granddad, but will never forget what a wonderful example and role model you were. Private Services will be held.
