Obituary printed in The Daily Gazette, June 4, 1996 page B9: COHOES -- Wellford Owen, 85, of Masten Avenue, died Monday at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, after a short illness. Born in Richmond, Va., Mr. Owen was a 1935 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy. For 37 years he worked for Niagara Mohawk, retiring in 1975. Mr. Owen was a member of the Niagara Mohawk 25-year club; former member of Van Schaick Island Country Club; and a member of the Monday Niter Bowling League. He was a communicant of St. Agnes/St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Owen was the widower of Catherine Dowd Owen. Survivors include a daughter, Carole Bouleris of Round Lake; a son Thomas Owen of Waterford; six grandchildren; and a great grand son. Services will be held at 9am Wednesday at Dufresne Funeral Home, 216 Columbia St., followed at 9:30am at St. Agnes-St. Patrick Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8pm today at the funeral home.
