Obituary

Amy Amy Cole, went to be with our Lord at the age of 85 on May 14, 2016 after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer's. Amy was born in Ville Platte, LA, the daughter of Thomas and Regina Amy. After receiving her Bachelor's degree from University of Southern Louisiana (USL) in Lafayette, LA and her Masters of Library Science degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, LA, Amy moved to Houston, TX. She spent the next 35 years as a librarian in the Houston Independent School District teaching elementary school children the joy of reading. After retiring and moving to Seguin, she continued volunteering her time at St. James Catholic Church, in the Seguin Elementary Schools and in her grandchildren's schools in San Antonio.
Amy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph, her sons Thomas and his wife Maureen, John and his wife Lesina, son in law Phil Akers, and daughter Ann and her husband Dennis along with a large extended family of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Amy is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Mary, wife of Phil Akers. A special note of thanks to Sandy Elley and the nurses and staff at Guadalupe Valley Nursing home for their dedicated care given to Miss Amy.
