Carl Grauer, was born as Kaspar Grauer to Johann Georg Grauer and Anna Maria Friesch in Kusterdingen, Germany.
He worked as a pastor in New Buffalo, Michigang in the service of a Missionary organization in Switzerland. He arrived together with his wife on Oct 18, 1879 in New York on the ship "Oder". In the passenger list his name is still Caspar.
Obviously short after the arrival he must have switched his given name to Carl.
