SOUTH BEND - Our father, Ernest R. Mason, 68, passed away peacefully May 25, 2016, with all four of his children present. He was born October 23, 1947, in Battle Creek, MI, to the late Richard Wade and Virginia (Gingrich) Mason.

On June 20th, 1975, Ernie married the love of his life, Donna Hosken, who preceded him in death in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gerri Mason, and granddaughter, Satana Hosken.

Left to cherish his memory are four children, Steven (Kathy Pockrandt) of South Bend, Valorie Mason of Lansing, MI, Tonya Mason of Battle Creek, MI, and Gary Hosken of Elkhart, IN. Also eight grandchildren, Alexandra Minor, Joshua Phillips, Kendolyn Minor, Christopher Hosken, Zechariah Hosken, Sessolee Daniels, Rozzolyn Mays and Dillon Whipple; and one great-grandson, Mason Harrell.

Ernie was a great dad, proud grandpa, and a loving husband to his wife. He was very friendly, the kind of man who never knew a stranger. He was very playful, silly, loved to laugh and tried to find humor in every situation. He was an extremely hard worker who always worked two or more jobs. He retired from Memorial Hospital where he worked for over 30 years. He was a die-hard University of Michigan and NASCAR fan.

Celebration of Life luncheon will be held on June 5th from 2:30 pm to 6 pm at Allie's Café, located at 2323 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46615. Please R.S.V.P. to Valorie Mason at 269-213-4055.
