LeRoy W. Bartels, 60, rural Oxford Junction, died Sunday at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

The funeral will be at 1 pm Wednesday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Oxford Junction, with the Rev. Douglas Holmgren officiating. Burial will be in Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

Pallbearers will be James Murray, Edwin Willimack, Bernard Sterk, Henry Becker, Kenneth Lasack and Irvin Ahrendsen.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 pm Tuesday at Carson Funeral Home, Maquoketa.

He was born March 1, 1916, near Baldwin to William and Augusta Weede Bartels. He married Hazel Clampitt March 18, 1942, in Maquoketa.

Mr. Bartels was a farmer and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Ronald, Mayville, WI, and John, Oxford Junction; a daughter, Brenda Kay, Des Moines; five grandchildren; a brother, Lavern, Baldwin, and a sister, Mrs. Marion (Leora) Randolph, Maquoketa.

The date of death was Feb 13, 1977.
