Aunt Aggie was born on December 6, 1909 in Hollywood, MD. She was the daughter of the late George Clarence and Mary Agnes Wible Thompson. She was preceded in death on December 12, 1996 by her beloved husband of 40 years, Herbert Tufte, whom she married on February 10, 1956 in Olympia, Washington.
She is survived by nieces, Catherine Bowles, Louise Bennett and Sissy Reeder of Hollywood, MD; Mary Delozier and Cecilia Brown of Leonardtown, MD; Joan Long of Mechanicsville, MD; Joyce Watson of Colonial Beach, VA; Sheila Boss of Severna Park, MD and nephews Michael Adams, Sr. of Hollywood, MD, Bobby Adams of Grovetown, GA; Robert Scully of Prince Frederick, MD; and Danny Thompson of Hughesville, MD; numerous great nieces and nephews; and two very special ladies, Stacey Medley and Stacey Kane, who took such kind and gentle care of her at home during her final days.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Madeleine Cusic, Merle Keller, Helen Gaus, Sister Mary Borromeo, Louise Alvey, Mary Jane Oliver and Hope Adams; and brothers, George, William and Samuel Thompson.
Aunt Aggie enjoyed salmon fishing, digging clams, going to the beach, eating out and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved to read. She was a graduate of St. John's School in Hollywood, MD. She was a nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, DC until her move to Olympia, Washington in 1954. She returned home to St. Mary's County in 1996 to be with her family. She was a caring person, contributing to many organizations to help those in need and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Olympia, Washington.
