Donald N. Boyer, 70, of Sharpsville, longtime community Funeral Director passed away at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Wellbrooke Rehab of Kokomo. Don was born September 5, 1945 in Richmond, Indiana to Donald R. and Edna M. (Bates) Boyer. He married Cheryl King on January 15, 1966 in Richmond and she survives.

Don and his wife Cheryl purchased the Funeral Home in Sharpsville, Indiana spring of 1977. They later purchased the Leatherman-Morris Funeral Home in Tipton, Indiana fall of 1981 and have served the local area communities for over 39 years.

Don was a 1964 graduate of Richmond High School in Richmond, Indiana and a 1967 Graduate of the Indiana School of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Naphtali Masonic Lodge #389 in Kokomo, Scottish Rite Valley F.&A.M., Indianapolis, Shriners and Eastern Star. He was a member and past president of the Sharpsville Lions Club and a past member of the Tipton Rotary Club. He was also a Life Member of the NRA and member of the Independent Funeral Directors Association of Indiana. Don served his country in the National Guard and the US Army Reserves.

Surviving family include his wife Cheryl Boyer, Sharpsville; daughter Christy (Mike) Tharp, Sharpsville; Shawn (Amy) Boyer, Kokomo; and Nick Boyer, Sharpsville. Four grandchildren, Makayla, Logan. Ellie and Kyla. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Melanie Lynne Boyer, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1st at Boyer Funeral Home, 204 N. Church Street in Sharpsville with Rev. Bill Salsbery officiating. Burial will follow at Sharpsville Cemetery with Military Honors graveside. Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31st at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Sharpsville Community Ambulance Fund or the Sharpsville Vol. Fire Department in Don’s honor.
