Kathryn "Kitty" Sparks, 88, went to be with the Lord June 11, 2012.


She was born in Akron and lived all of her life in the Akron area. After graduating from East High School she worked at Goodyear Aircraft during World War II. The first 10 years of her marriage with Russell Sparks she worked in the payroll department at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Then when her only child Randy was born she became a homemaker. Kitty was a long time member of Annunciation Church in Akron until she moved to Munroe Falls and became a member of Holy Family Church in Stow. She was a wonderful, devoted, wife and mother who had a lot of friends.


Kathryn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell, one brother and three sisters. She is survived by her son, Randy Sparks; sister, Helen Medkeff; brother, Leo Obrst; and many nieces and nephews.


Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron, with Deacon Phil Kamlowsky officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Friends will be received 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bright Hope, 2060 Seonington Ave., Hoffman Estates, IL 60169. 330-376-3032
