Son of Marcus "Max" Sibon and Verna Alice Coates, Mark grew up in Lomita, California. After graduation from high school he went into the U.S. Army and became a paratrooper stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. After his honorable discharge in 1965 he moved to Anaheim, California. There he met and married Anna-Marie Curren. They had two children and later divorced. Mark worked for an auto dealer in Whittier, California for 42 years and was parts manager when he retired.
