A member of the painter's union, he painted most of the schools in Los Angeles. After retiring he constructed furniture with European-style inlaid patterns.
NOTE: John Varga was originally buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California. He was later moved to Sunnyside Cemetery where his wife was buried in 1993. See memorial no. 78787763
