Eliza Jane Dyer was the daughter of Abner Young Dyer (1831-1892) and Elvira M. Thomas (1837-1936). She had one brother, Ulmer B. Dyer (1861-1925), and no sisters. She married Charles B. Smith about 1867, and they were the parents of 4 children: Lillian L. (1868-1938, m. Lee M. Treat); Adna Ames (1871-1940, m. Charles Hanley Thomas); Leslie Francis (1873-1924, m. Eva Bertha Emery), and Ulmer Freeman (1875-1946, m. Lucy M. "Lutie" Tolman). She lived the latter part of her life in a house on Carver Street in Vinalhaven, and was cared for by my grandmother, Mary Smith. I cannot find a death record for her, but it appears she died some time around 1938, based on family documents I have regarding her care. Her gravestone does not have her death date.
