(I believe it has been conclusively proven that George Turner you refer to was not Major George Turner. A very flawed early DAR application seems to be the origin of the assertion that George (1731-1804 Spartanburg Co. SC) was the Major George Turner. Major George was born in England and died in Philadelphia, Pa much much later than plain George Turner died in 1804 in Spartanburg Co. SC. Major George did serve in SC but later was in KY and Hamilton Co. OH before moving to Philadelphia.)
