WEST POINT -- Mr. Charles Edward Hardage Sr., 81, of West Point died Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, Alabama.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 27 at 11 a.m. at Pasley Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel in Thomaston, GA.

Mr. Hardage is survived by his wife of 60 years, Zelma Fallin Hardage; two sons, Charles (Judy) Hardage of Lanett, and Tim Hardage of Athens, GA.; his daughter, Becky (Lewis) Dickson of Fayetteville, GA.; four brothers, G.W. Hardage, L.H. Hardage, Harold Hardage and Hewell Hardage; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A native of Thomaston, GA., Mr. Hardage lived in West Point the last eight years. He was a resident of Griffin, GA., for 20 years prior to moving to West Point. He graduated in 1936 from R.E. Lee High School in Thomaston, attended Gordon College in Barnesville, GA., and Georgia State in Atlanta. He served in the United States Navy as a radarman first class aboard the U.S.S. Decker during World War II. His lifelong vocation was in human resources. He worked for B.F. Goodrich in Thomaston, the William Carter Co. in Barnesville, GA., and American Mills in Griffin, GA. He was a charter member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Trinity Baptist Church while living in Thomaston. He was also a lifelong superintendent of Adult Education at First Baptist Church of Griffin. He was a current member of First Baptist Church in West Point.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 26 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home in Thomaston. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of West Point. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home in Thomaston is handling arrangements.
