Philomena A. Melograna Stella, 97, of Scottdale (Kingview), passed away Thursday afternoon, May 26, 2016. She was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Constantino and Tomasina C. Pileggi Melograna, who died Dec. 26, 1928, and Oct. 12, 1984, respectively. Philomena was a devout Catholic and faithful member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale, for 62 years. She was also an active member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas, Court Lambing No. 314 where she served as past vice regent and past trustee. In addition to her parents, Philomena will once again be reunited with her loving husband of 51 years, Antonia F. "Tony" Stella, who died June 11, 2002; and her brother, Michael S. Melograna (Nov. 4, 2004). Philomena is survived by a number of loving and caring nieces and nephews.

Philomena's family will greet friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Prayers of Transfer will be recited Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, in the funeral home, followed by her funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale, with her pastor, the Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki, as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Lambing No. 314 will recite the rosary at 2 p.m. Tuesday. A parish wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, both in the funeral home.
