George Wallace Conway, 84, passed away suddenly on May 25, 2016. He was preceded in death by many but those closest to him were his wife, Mildred Conway; his mother, Alice Conway; grandmother, Jennie Hunt; and his brother, Eugene Conway. He is survived by his son, Howard and daughter, Debra. He is also survived by an extended family, including a sister, Vicki Russell; and brothers, John, Eddie, and Mike Conway. Wallace was a longtime member of New Bridge Baptist Church and retired from Airco Welding Products- BOC after 35 years of service. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Family was important to Wallace and he felt that family should always take care of each other in good times, and bad. This is the way he lived life. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home Laburnum. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2pm at Nelsen Funeral Home Laburnum. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent to Carlisle Ave. Baptist or New Bridge Baptist Church.
