William B. Gordon enlisted in the army in 1939 and served in the infantry. He transferred to the Air Force as an enlisted man and retired in 1961 with the rank of Captain in the Air Police.

He married Jay Faye Canady in Fairview, Oklahoma on June 18, 1948. After his retirement they settled in Columbus, Mississippi where he operated a bowling alley and served on the police department. They moved to Bothell, Washington in 1965 and he worked in construction. Later they moved to Whidbey Island near Coupeville.

William was survived by three brothers, Jack, Don and Gordon, and one sister, Lorraine, all of California.
