Margaret Ellen “Peg” Shuba, 71, of Washington, died Sunday, February 22, 2009, in the Donnell House, following a three-year illness.

She was born August 28, 1937, in Washington, a daughter of Ralph Edwin and Viola Mae Gallagher Anderson.

Mrs. Shuba graduated from Trinity High School and worked for 29 years as a nurses’ aid at the Washington Hospital.

She was a member of Friendship Community Church and enjoyed reading, playing bingo, going to the casino in Wheeling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

On July 13, 1956, she married John Shuba, Jr., who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, John A. (Donna) Shuba of Hickory, Michael (Sheila) Shuba of Lone Pine, and Kevin (Tara) Shuba of Burgettstown; two daughters, Kimberly (Barry) Betts and Julie (Jeff) Eidens, both of Washington; a sister, Norma Cooper of Washington; thirteen grandchildren, John, Adam, Bob, and Amanda Rose Shuba, Steven and Aaron Shuba, Holly and Katie Shuba, Timothy, Andrew and Scott Betts and Jeffrey and Zachary Eidens; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Ralph E. Anderson Jr.; and two sisters, Genevieve Lowery and Ruth Ann Anderson.

Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26th with Rev. Floyd Marasco officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Donnell House, Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington PA 15301.
